Graphic and ultra-easy to care for, the Ponytail Palm (Beaucarnea recurvata), also known as the Elephant's Foot, is the ultimate “set it and forget it” plant. Its swollen trunk stores water, making it very tolerant of forgotten watering. It likes bright light but also adapts to medium light levels.

Is This the Right Plant for You?
With its sculptural base and cascade of delicate leaves, the Elephant's Foot (Beaucarnea recurvata) instantly adds character to any interior. It originates from the arid regions of Mexico and has adapted to life with little water. It is a succulent plant that stores water in its elephant foot-shaped trunk, hence its reputation as a robust and durable plant. It is not a true palm tree, but it has the look of one, with drooping foliage that creates an airy and highly decorative silhouette. Indoors, it can grow to a height of about two meters, while maintaining slow and elegant growth.

Watering
About 0.5 to 0.75 L of water every 2–3 weeks in spring and summer, and about every 4–6 weeks in fall and winter.
Care Guide
The Poneytail Palm (Beaucarnea recurvata) is a very hardy and undemanding plant, native to arid regions. Water with room temperature water, ideally left to stand, allowing the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings. Remove decorative moss before watering and always empty excess water from the planter or saucer. Clean the foliage once a month with a soft cloth and rotate the pot a quarter turn for harmonious growth. Fertilize once a month from March to September.
