The unkillable plant

The perfect plant for beginners

If you think you don't have a green thumb, the Zamioculcas is made for you.

Its fleshy rhizomes store water: it shrugs off missed waterings, dim rooms and long absences. Place it almost anywhere, water it rarely, and it keeps thriving. It's the most forgiving houseplant there is, ideal for beginners, an office or a dark corner.

Graphic elegance

A unique, sculptural foliage

Behind its reputation as a tough, easy-going plant, the Zamioculcas hides real style.

Its upright stems, lined with deep, glossy green leaflets, trace a graphic, contemporary silhouette. A waxy foliage that catches the light and structures a room, from the living room to the hallway, without ever feeling bulky.

Are the Zamioculcas and the Zanzibar Gem the same plant?

Yes. “Zanzibar Gem” is the name we give to the Zamioculcas (Zamioculcas zamiifolia), also known as the ZZ Plant. One and the same plant, native to East Africa.

Is the Zamioculcas easy to care for?

It's one of the easiest plants there is. It tolerates low light, needs watering only every two to three weeks and forgives the odd forgotten watering. Perfect for beginners.

How much light does the Zamioculcas need?

The Zamioculcas adapts to almost any exposure, from bright indirect light to shade. It grows a little faster in a bright room but copes very well in a dark corner.

How often should I water the Zamioculcas?

Rarely: every two to three weeks, letting the soil dry out well in between. Water less in winter. Overwatering is its only real enemy.

Is the Zamioculcas toxic to pets?

Yes. Like many houseplants, the Zamioculcas is mildly toxic if eaten, to pets and humans alike. Keep it out of reach of animals and young children.

Why are my Zamioculcas leaves turning yellow?

If your Zamioculcas leaves are turning yellow, the cause is almost always overwatering. Cut back on watering and let the soil dry: the Zamioculcas would much rather be too dry than too wet.
