Is This the Right Plant for You?
A true gem of a plant, part of what makes the Lady Palm special is her slow growing nature: it can take years to reach her mature height. Though originally hailing from China, the Lady Palm came into mainstream popularity in Japan during the 18th century, where she was a popular choice in decorating Japanese palaces. Despite her regal nature, she requires little maintenance to enjoy her unique and stately beauty.

At Léon & George we pay special attention to detail. Our staging kit includes stabilized natural lichen for a bright finish.
We also know that finding the right watering routine can be difficult and unlike the last piece of furniture you bought, a live plant requires special attention.
That's why your plant comes with a simple and stylish watering indicator that tells you when it's time to water your plant, as well as clay balls and a matching saucer to retain moisture and limit the risk of overwatering.
Designed and tested with research institutes and agronomists, this tool works without batteries and uses a simple color scale: blue = enough water, white = it may be time to water.

Watering
Approximately 0.75 to 1 liter of water once a week in summer, every 10 days to 2 weeks in winter.
Care Guide
For watering, use water at room temperature and whose chlorine has evaporated. Let the top of the soil (3-5 cm) dry between 2 waterings. Remove the decorative moss beforehand to avoid wetting it. Water in 2 times, spaced about 10 minutes apart, so that the soil absorbs the water well. Spray the foliage of your plant regularly to increase the humidity level. Clean the foliage once a month with a soft cloth and diluted black soap. Rotate the pot a quarter circle at this time to promote smooth growth. Apply suitable fertilizer once a month from March to September.
More information can be found in the Lady Palm.

Featured Questions
Is Lady Palm easy to care for?
The Lady Palm is a fairly tropical easy-to-maintain houseplant. Its main enemy is dry air. Remember to spray its foliage as often as possible. Choose moderate watering. Keep the substrate slightly moist between waterings. Beware, however, of excess water and draughts.
When should I repot my Lady Palm?
The Lady Palm is a slow-growing plant. It can be repotted every 3 years or so. In the meantime, especially for larger specimens, plan to resurface the plant every year, replacing some of the soil on the surface.
Does Lady Palm need a lot of light?
The Lady Palm, aka Rhapis Excelsa, prefers moderate sunlight, without direct sun. Choose a shady spot away from draughts.
Is Lady Palm prone to disease and parasites?
Indoors, in an excessively dry atmosphere, the Lady Palm aka Rhapis Excelsa may suffer attacks from red spider mites or, more rarely, mealybugs. Inspect its foliage regularly for the presence of these insects. In this case, remove the pests with Super Neem Oil solution and a soft cloth, and spray the foliage more often to increase atmospheric humidity.
However, its main enemy indoors is dry air. Remember to spray it daily. If you notice that the lower leaves are parched, this is generally natural throughout the growth of this palm. Simply remove the leaves by cutting them off flush with the stipe.
Is the Lady Palm an air purifier?
The Lady Palm aka Rhapis Excelsa is listed as an air-purifying plant with a depolluting action. It helps eliminate xylene, formaldehyde and ammonia from glues, solvents, paints, furniture, carpets and household products, while converting carbon dioxide into oxygen.
Is Lady Palm toxic or poisonous to humans or pets?
The Lady Palm aka Rhapis Excelsa is considered as non-toxic. This houseplant is safe for pets and children.
Does Lady Palm produce flowers?
In its natural habitat, the Lady Palm, also known as Rhapis Excelsa, produces small flowers in cream to pinkish panicles. However, it's highly unlikely that you'll see your Bamboo Palm bloom in your climate or indoors.
How big can a Lady Palm aka Rhapis Excelsa grow?
This small, slow-growing Asian palm can reach 4 meters in height outdoors. Indoors, it very rarely exceeds 1m80.
